Musician Process Groups

Performing musical works can be emotionally demanding, and many performers face emotional overwhelm as they dig into the depths of the works they are presenting. Process groups allow for a space to explore the challenging layers of emotion that may block our ability to perform authentically. By giving performers and ensemble members a space to explore their individual experiences in preparation of musical works, these process groups will support movement forward towards a healthy performance space.

Some of the elements that may trigger distress can include:

Emotionally activating text

Difficult content or topics related to world events

Challenging historical contexts and programming considerations

Interpersonal challenges among ensemble members

Group Meeting
Empty Orchestra Stage
Glasses and Music Sheet
Orchestra Conductor on Stage
Piano Keys

Process groups can be offered virtually or in-person (location dependent) and can be 60, 90, or 120 minutes in length.
